Title: UNIX Administrator/Distributed Systems Software Analyst

Job Description
Provide timely and effective production support for Airborne's distributed Systems. Support and administer UNIX systems, including installing and testing hardware and software, configuring and tuning the UNIX kernel and file systems,planning capacity needs, and providing for backup and recovery. Provide consulting support to project teams implementing systems on distributed platforms, including guidance in the use of UNIX and TCP/IP. Assist in development of policies and procedures for production distributed systems. Job requires on-call and off hours support.Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of UNIX software and system administration. (3+ years experience).
- Extensive knowledge of distributed systems products and their use in a production environment.
- Experience writing complex shell scripts.
- Experience implementing and supporting relational database systems.
- Strong analytical skills in system design and problem resolution.
- Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.
- A proven customer service orientation in recent job experience.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience with HP 9000 series hardware and HP-UX 9.x and 10.x is strongly desired.
- Experience with communications and data transfer between UNIX, Netware, desktop, and mainframe systems.
- Experience with network and system management software such as Tivoli, Netview 6000, Autosys, and CA Unicenter.
- Experience with internet hardware and software, including firewalls and web servers.
- Background in configuring local and wide area networks.
- Experience with Oracle databases.
