SEATTLE -- March 16, 1996
The ocean freight division of Airborne Express, a leading international air express and air freight carrier, has opened offices in Atlanta and Chicago to better serve its growing customer base.

"These new offices will enable Airborne to further improve customer service and to more effectively handle additional growth in our ocean shipping sector," said Charles Ogle, director of Airborne's ocean services. "By offering an air/ocean transportation option along with consolidation, EDI and international express services, we're able to provide our customers with more convenient, cost effective shipping solutions."

The new Airborne offices will handle all ocean shipping requirements, including rate quotes, cargo bookings, full documentation processing and customer service. The offices join Airborne's existing ocean freight office in Seattle. With the additional offices, a customer calling Airborne's ocean freight customer service number (1-800-255-6232) will automatically be routed to ocean freight personnel closest to the customer.

Airborne's ocean division, launched a year ago, operates as an NVOCC (non-vessel-operating common carrier). Airborne provides a wide range of FCL (full-container load) and LCL (less-than-container load) ocean services from the United States to Asia, Europe and Latin America. Airborne also offers ocean trade between key non-U.S. ports with services and logistics coordinated through the company's worldwide offices and information system network.

Airborne Express, the nation's fastest growing domestic express carrier for the last ten years, serves the air express needs of corporate customers with the delivery of time-sensitive documents, letters, small packages and freight across the United States and to more than 200 countries. Airborne offers same-day, next-day, next-afternoon and second-day delivery options. The Seattle-based company is in its fifth decade of providing international services.
