SEATTLE -- May 27, 1997
For the 13th consecutive year, PMI Equipment Group, located in Troy, Ohio, chose Airborne Express to receive one of its annual "Transportation Partnership Awards" for outstanding quality and service. Airborne’s consistency of information, coupled with an on-time record of 97.5% and above, made it the only air or parcel carrier this year to be honored by PMI.

A significant portion of PMI’s business involves selling replacement/repair parts for commercial kitchen equipment, making prompt delivery and proactive customer service a necessity. "Airborne’s Dayton employees were a leading reason in our choosing Airborne this year," said Jack Reddy, director of transportation and warehousing for PMI. "Those hard-working people who put it together for us make all the difference."

PMI’s account is handled by Airborne national account manager Greg Whisnant, who is supported by several other Airborne employees, including Phil Fenech, district field service manager and Wendy Fisher, customer service representative at the DAY facility, and Jim Hughes, station services manager of Airborne’s Piqua facility.

This year’s award was presented in a ceremony at PMI’s new parts distribution facility in Piqua, Ohio, and tied in PMI’s 100 year anniversary and Airborne’s 1996 50 year anniversary of quality products and service.

"Airborne’s success with PMI is the result of the extraordinary effort of not only the Dayton staff, but that of Airborne’s hub staff in Wilmington, Ohio, and all the other stations throughout the country," said Fenech.
