AIRBORNE EXPRESS VICE PRESIDENT APPOINTED TO ACCA PRESIDENCY

SEATTLE -- September 4, 1997
Air Courier Conference of America (ACCA) recently appointed Donald G. Smith, vice president and general manager of Airborne Express’s same day delivery subsidiary Sky Courier, as president.

Smith, previously vice president of ACCA for the past two years, assumed the position after Phil Belyew of General Parcel Service resigned. Belyew cites the change in direction of his company away from courier express business and toward a truckload carriage as the reason for his resignation.

ACCA membership consists of the leading companies and individuals engaged in expedited transport of time sensitive small packages. ACCA represents member companies as industry spokesperson, providing a forum for innovative ideas, promoting the adoption of standards for the courier express industry, sponsoring professional educational programs, and promoting the interests of the industry in political, legal, and regulatory arenas.

For more than 50 years, Airborne Express has served shipping needs of business customers around the world. Today, Airborne offers total distribution solutions by providing time-sensitive delivery of documents, letters, small packages and freight to virtually every U.S. ZIP code and more than 200 countries. Customers can select from a variety of services including same-day, next-morning, next-afternoon, or second-day delivery, ocean service, and logistics management.
