R.J. REYNOLDS AWARDS AIRBORNE EXPRESS FOR SUPERIOR SERVICE

GREENSBORO, N.C. — March 19, 1996 — R.J. Reynolds (RJR) recently awarded Airborne Express its Exceptional Performance Award for outstanding service by a carrier.

To earn the award, Airborne scored higher than a 95 percent rating in the following areas: Service performance; Equipment availability; Expeditious handling of claims; and Timely reporting

The Exceptional Performance Award was presented to only the top performers of the carriers that do business with RJR.

"Our standards are high," said Vicki Boles, RJR's director of quality programs, "but Airborne has consistently met - and surpassed - them. We count on them to move some of our most important shipments."
