Customers Save 30 Percent Using Airborne Express' International Mail

SEATTLE — April 5, 1996 — Airborne Express introduces today a new service option that takes its international transportation service to new heights. Airborne Global Post (AGP) is the company's cost-effective, international mail service.

Whether a business has international mailings just once, or on a regular basis, Airborne's customers no longer pay for postage up front or sort mail. With one call, Airborne will pick up pre-addressed, unsorted and unstamped mail, transfer it in bulk to a central distribution center for processing, consolidation and distribution. Airborne Global Post provides transit times 1-2 days faster than normal international mail service.

"The savings are what's most surprising," said Airborne Express Director of International Express Operations Mike Chase. "A customer with a four ounce international mailing to 300 locations each month can save at least $3,000 a year on postage. Best of all, they get better than standard first class service."

Clients can select Airborne's consolidated mail services that uses the United States Postal Service (USPS) or alternative international mail services. The alternative mail services are:

Airborne Global Post Prime: First class international mail service that provides fast delivery of important mailings such as invoices, account or financial statements, annual reports and checks.

Airborne Global Post Economy: Standard international mail service that provides substantial savings for less time-sensitive mailings such as catalogs, magazines and direct mail advertisements. AGP consolidates services for those wanting a U.S. indicia through the USPS.

International Priority Airmail TM (IPA) : First-class mail service for time-sensitive mailings such as letters and documents (available to all countries except Canada).

International Surface Airlift TM (ISAL) : Mailing service that provides fast, but economical delivery of catalogs, directories and heavier printed materials.

In keeping with Airborne's customer-intimate approach to business, these are just some of Airborne Global Post international mail options. Additionally, Airborne offers more choices than any other U.S. air carrier for delivering documents and packages to and from international markets.

"Airborne was the first to offer same-day and ocean service in its mix of international delivery options and we are the first to offer more international mail services than our competitors," said Chase. "Whether your international business mailing needs a 'hometown' look, therefore a local postmark, or the first-class postal indicia for formal documents, Airborne Global Post is the answer."

AGP customers can take advantage of Airborne's international on-line tracking and tracing technologies to monitor delivery into postal systems. International mail services are also available for mailings to Canada and parcel package mailings.

Additional benefits customers receive when they choose Airborne Express as their transportation partner are access to Airborne's multinational sales and operations network; one-stop shopping for all distribution and logistics needs; and 24-hour customer service, 365 days a year by calling 1-800-ABX-INTL.

Celebrating 50 years of providing shipping and logistics solutions for business, Airborne Express continues to be a leader in the transportation industry. Airborne serves the air express, air freight, ocean freight and international mail needs of corporate customers across the U.S. and in more than 200 countries. Airborne offers same-day, next-day, next-afternoon and second-day delivery and central, regional and international warehousing.
