AIRBORNE EXPRESS WELCOMES COMPETITION IN SAME-DAY DELIVERY MARKET

SEATTLE -- April 13, 1995 -- This week's announcement of the entry of Federal Express in to the same-day delivery and third-party logistics services market through an alliance with Network Courier Service Inc. was welcomed by Airborne Express. Airborne, the nation's fastest growing domestic air express carrier for the past decade, has been providing such services through its Sky Courier subsidiary since 1988.

"The fact that FedEx and UPS have both recently announced entry into this highly service sensitive market segment continues an industry trend toward enhancing logistics services for business customers -- delivering anything, anywhere, anytime," said Don Smith, vice president and general manager of Sky Courier. "We welcome the new competition because it further expands the customer service options that Airborne and Sky Courier introduced six years ago."

Sky Courier provides nationwide, same-day package delivery by utilizing the next flight out on commercial air carriers in conjunction with their own existing ground transportation networks.

Sky Courier also offers expedited international delivery and logistics services.
