Airborne Express Announces New Member Elected To Board Of Directors

SEATTLE — May 14, 1996 — Airborne Express announced today the addition of Mary Agnes (Maggie) Wilderotter to the company's Board of Directors.

Executive Vice President, National Operations of AT&T Wireless Services (AWS) and Chief Executive Officer of AWS's Aviation Communications Division, Wilderotter is currently responsible for marketing, sales, customer service and information services for AT&T Wireless Services. She also manages AWS partnership market properties and oversees a division that provides wireless phone service for more than a dozen commercial airlines.

"Ms. Wilderotter's experiences in the communications and high tech industries will provide valuable input to our current and future operations," said Airborne's Chief Executive Officer Robert S. Cline

Before her present position with AT&T Wireless, Ms. Wilderotter was senior vice president of McCaw Cellular Communications, Inc.

Prior to that, during a twelve-year tenure in the cable industry, Wilderotter ran the Cable Division for U.S. Computers Services. Wilderotter also sat on the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) Board of Directors, served as an executive member of Women in Cable and on the California Cable Television Association Board of Directors. Wilderotter was named one of the top ten women in the cable industry, and in 1989, received the cable industry's most prestigious honor, the NCTA Vanguard Award of Associates.

Wilderotter also chairs the Audit Committee and is a member of the Board of Directors for ANTEC, an international communications technology company specializing in the design and engineering of broadband networks and the manufacturing, materials management and distribution of products for fiber and coaxial broadband networks. Wilderotter also participates in the Young Presidents' Organization.

Airborne Express elected Wilderotter to serve on the company's Board of Directors during the April 23, 1996 board meeting. Wilderotter will join the board in August 1996.

Wilderotter received her Bachelors degree in economics and business administration from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass. in 1977. She currently resides in Washington with her husband Jay and two children Chris (12) and Danny (9).
