AIRBORNE EXPRESS BEGINS OVERNIGHT DELIVERY TO PUERTO RICO

SEATTLE -- September 13, 1994 -- Airborne Express introduces overnight express delivery service to Puerto Rico.

In response to increased shipment volumes and the company's commitment to providing quality customer service, Airborne began flying a DC-9 to San Juan for daily pickups and deliveries to most locations in Puerto Rico. Four new driver routes have been added to daily service and more are anticipated in the future. The company also plans to build a new facility at the San Juan airport that will hand 75 trucks.

Airborne will pre-pay government taxes applied to dutiable shipments and handle the paperwork and documents to insure convenient, reliable door-to-door delivery. Airborne's automatic tax clearance eliminates the need for customer to make extra trips to clear packages through customs. Customers use one invoice that covers the costs of delivery and any additional taxed.

Packages picked up by Airborne drivers during the day will be loaded onto the company's plane which will depart San Juan at 7 p.m. The plane will return to San Juan with packages bound for local businesses by 11 a.m. each morning.

Shippers who would like to take advantage of the improved service levels can also benefit from savings up to 40 percent off of competitor prices. Those who are interested can call (809) 752-2649.
